We will begin with a 30-minute sneak peek of BLACK AMERICA SINCE MLK: AND STILL I RISE. Following the preview will be a panel discussion on civil rights in Charleston featuring:

  • former Mayor Joe Riley
  • the Honorable Lucille Whipper
  • SC Community Loan Fund’s CEO Michelle Mapp
  • Dr. Bernard Powers, professor of history at the College of Charleston
  • moderator Dr. Kendra Stewart, director of the Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Center

FREE and open to all

Venue parking and entrances: The program will take place in the Burke High School Auditorium. You may enter through the South Entrance (Fishburne Street) or North Entrance (Sumter Street). There is street parking along both entrances, as well as a small lot between Burke HS and Johnson Hagood Stadium.
